What does the recirculation button do?

The recirculation button is found near the AC/heat controls in your vehicle. When the recirculation button is hit, it does what it says, recirculates the air that’s inside the cabin of your vehicle. This button is actually super helpful during extreme temperatures.

During the Summer, the fresh air is super super hot. When you turn the AC on, that hot air is being pulled in from outside and then cooled. By using the recirculation button, your vehicle will cool the air you already have in your vehicle. This will cool your vehicle off faster and decrease wear and tear on your AC system.

We here at Jerry Noonan’s Auto Center hope you learned a helpful tip from today’s blog post. Thank you for reading along and have a great weekend!

How do I get my car to your mechanical shop?

Here at Jerry Noonan’s Auto Center, we want to make it as simple as possible for you to get your vehicle to us. We are not taking any waiting appointments at this moment so it is important to know your options. Since we take care of all kinds of service here at the shop, from New Jersey State Inspections to Transmission Services, your vehicle could be here for some time. The best way for us to look at it is if it is left here in the morning or from the night before. That way our technicians can check your vehicle out, parts can be ordered, and you can be notified on what is going on all in a timely fashion.

That being said, you might be thinking it would be difficult for you to bring your vehicle to us. Well we have a few new options for you! Introducing our white glove concierge service, which entails one of our technicians coming to your house in the morning around 8:30am to pick up your vehicle and then when we are all wrapped up with it, around 4:30pm it will be dropped back off to you! This is a complimentary service for personal and business locations in our local area. We offer one pickup appointment each day so that’s also something to be mindful of.

Another option we have is that we work with Uber. Say you were able to drop off your vehicle in the AM but weren't able to get a ride back to the shop to pick up your vehicle when it was finished. We can schedule you a time slot with Uber where they will come to your house or place of work, pick you up, and bring you to the shop. This is also a complimentary service!

If you have an appointment scheduled and it is easier for you to drop your vehicle off at night, we have an option for you too! We recently purchased a new night drop box and it's more efficient than our older one. You pull into the parking lot here at 251 Applegarth Road, Monroe Township NJ and park your vehicle in one of the spots out front. Once you do that, you will see the night drop box hanging on the wall next to the first bay door. Inside, you can grab an envelope, fill it out, put your keys inside, and then stick it inside the slot that is inside the drop box! It’s that simple. Our night drop box is locked so it is safe and secure so you don’t have to worry about something happening to your keys.

And a final option you have is, if you have a spouse, friend, or neighbor who can help out. They can either follow you here when you come to drop off your vehicle in the morning or come and pick you up.

Getting your vehicle to our shop can be as easy as possible with these few options listed above. So just to recap, we offer complimentary pickup service appointments once a day, complimentary Uber rides, night drop, and just the helping hand of a friend! Be sure to pick the option that is the best for you. We here at Jerry Noonan’s Auto Center are happy to answer any questions you may have on this topic. Please give us a call at (609)655-2886!!

When should I check my battery?

Your battery is such an important component in your vehicle as it literally powers it. So making sure your battery is in tip top shape, is highly recommended. You wouldn’t want to be stranded anywhere especially in the Summer heat.

It is a good idea to have your battery checked several times a year. More specifically, after extreme seasons. Coming out of the cold weather and going right into the heat of the Summer can put stress on your vehicle’s battery. Since we live in a state that gets all 4 seasons, your vehicle is put through many different environmental conditions that affect your battery’s life. On average, your vehicle’s battery should last 4-5 years.

Here at Jerry Noonan’s Auto Center, we offer free battery testing as a part of our courtesy check. Our technicians will receive a printout and that will tell them the current health of your battery. With this information, our technicians may recommend a new battery or a battery charge. We do stock most standard batteries and can always order one if needed. If you have any questions or concerns about your vehicle’s battery, please don’t hesitate to call us at (609) 655-2886.

When should I replace my wiper blades?

Could you imagine driving in a pretty heavy rainstorm without your wiper blades working right? I know I can’t, I rely on mine so much. Having a proper working set of wiper blades is definitely a priority when it comes to your vehicle. That being said, wiper blades should be replaced every 15,000 miles or about every year. If we had a bad season, like we did this Winter, it is recommended to replace them every 6 months.

Did you know that the best way to test your wipers’ functionality is when they are wet? Using your wiper blades on a dry windshield causes them to wear quicker. There is a possibility that you could scratch your windshield too from gritty dirt trapped under the blade. Worn blades can also cause scratches. If you think you need your wipers replaced, please stop by! We carry top rated brands like Bosch and Trico which come in various sizes and fit most standard vehicles. We here at Jerry Noonan’s Auto Center are ready to service all your vehicle’s needs, please call us at 609-655-2886 for any questions you might have!!

What is an oil change?

Regular maintenance on your vehicle is very important to keep it running to the best of its ability. One of the more ordinary services is to change your oil. An oil change is required to keep your engine lubricated. The engine in your car is made up of a bunch of moving parts. For these parts to move smoothly without friction, they need to be properly lubricated. The oil needs frequent changing because over time it will break down and become contaminated with debris from the environment around it and from the engine too.

There are two kinds of oil changes we do at the shop, conventional and synthetic. We recommend that you need to replace conventional oil every 3,000 miles or 3 months. For the conventional oil, we recommend it should be replaced every 5,000 miles or 6 months.

When doing an oil change you also need to change the oil filter. Once this has been completed, you are ready to go until your next service.

We here at Jerry Noonan’s Auto Center are here to help with your automotive needs. Please call us to schedule an appointment for your oil change or regular vehicle maintenance!!

How can I clean pollen off my vehicle?

Pollen is a huge annoyance to us each Spring. It drives our allergies crazy and just covers everything outside. One thing in particular is your vehicle. If you are like me, I hate seeing that yellow dust on the hood of my car everyday. It is definitely a good idea to wash it off, but not only for cosmetic reasons. The acidity level found in pollen is high and could cause early oxidation to your paint.

An easy way to clean pollen off your vehicle is to first:

  • Spray the top of it with a hose. You want to make sure you are working from top to bottom.

Next, once the pollen is all gone:

  • Put some detailing spray on your vehicle and then wipe it off with a microfiber cloth. Using the detailing spray will make your vehicle have a gloss on it and deter the pollen from sticking.

We here at Jerry Noonan’s Auto Center hope you learned a little something from today’s blog! Thank you for reading along and have a great weekend!!

Why is it important to change your cabin air filter?

Spring has definitely sprung and so has our allergies. This year, at least for me, my allergies have been terrible. We all know taking allergy medicine is beneficial to help us out, but did you know that you should also be checking and changing your cabin air filter? The cabin air filter (or simply cabin filter) does what it’s called really, it filters the air that is coming into the cabin of your vehicle. Just like you would change out your HVAC air filters in your home to keep pollutants at bay, its the same concept for your cabin filter.
Pictured above is a brand new cabin air filter vs an old and dirty one. If your cabin filter is dirty like this, you are breathing in those toxins and pollutants that are on it, like pollen for example. This filter is recommended to be replaced at least once a year to keep the air coming into your vehicle nice and clean, and free of toxins and odors.
As part of our complimentary safety inspection on every vehicle, we inspect your cabin filter each time your vehicle is in. Please call us at (609)655-2886 to schedule a reservation and a Spring checkup to make sure you are all set for the season ahead. We wish you a happy and healthy Spring!!
